A Nepal-based company has said that working with Indian company Ircon on Janakpur-Jaynagar railway project has increased their expertise and knowledge in the sector and this experience has made the company more confident to carry out further works in Nepal.
“India has the world’s largest railway connection and Ircon looks after these links. While working with them we have become confident that we can carry out further railway construction works in our nation,” said Raman Mahato, Director, Raman Construction.
Raman Construction has been given the responsibility to complete the work of embankment and cutting, blanketing work for laying new railway line, construction of major and minor bridges, and any other incidental/ancillary works required in connection to the completion of the work.
“Previously none of the Nepali companies had experience on laying the railway tracks but now we have gained experience. This has enabled us to carry out further works related to it,” Mahato added.
Ircon and Raman Construction have worked together for the construction of three halt and five stations between Jaynagar of India to Kurtha of Mahottari, Nepal.
The Janakpur-Jaynagar railway line links the holy town of Janakpur in Nepal with Jayanagar across the border in the Indian state of Bihar. The track is being extended from Janakpur and will eventually link Bardibas.
Indian Government has initiated the construction of broad-gauge-railway linking Janakpur and Jaynagar facilitating the mode of transport between the two nations.
In the first phase, construction works are being carried on between Jogbani-Biratnagar and Janakpur-Bardibas. The Indian Government has pledged Rs 500 crore donation for the construction of Jaynagar-Janakpur-Bardibas railway track construction.
Construction of infrastructures for the railway link is expected to be completed by next year as the COVID-19 pandemic is hampering expedition of project.
