Emirates opens its first travel store in East Asia

Emirates has opened its first travel store in the Far East, in Hong Kong. The opening comes as part of a plan to roll out the airline’s retail blueprint in phases across the wider East Asia region and the airline’s global network.

Located in the Nexxus Building, the concept store aims to provide a reimagined retail travel experience that makes its products, services, and signature hospitality more easily accessible to customer in the city, in an interactive and intimate environment. The store offers customers a comprehensive range of premium services including flight reservations, ticketing, and personalised customer assistance.

The store was officially inaugurated by Orhan Abbas, Emirates’ senior vice president of commercial operations for the Far East, in the presence of Shaikh Saoud Al Mualla, UAE Consul General, and Sultan Alriyami, Emirates’ area manager for Hong Kong. The opening ceremony was also attended by distinguished guests, trade, and media partners.

The retail space, which spans over 1,500 square feet, features a relaxing, lounge-style environment with light and modern furniture. There are four dedicated customer service counters, which will be staffed by the brand’s knowledgeable travel consultants, along with sizeable interactive screens throughout the store that will allow guests to take selfies or photos with friends, against iconic Emirates backgrounds. The store also uses smart technology-powered self-service screens to minimise wait times, while the latest Emirates products and promotional offers are show on LED screens around the room.

As part of its opening celebrations, the store has featured a display of its premium economy class seat for a limited time, giving customers the chance to try them out and preview what the sought-after cabin class would entail. In addition, customers who sign up for Emirates Skywards using the in-store self-service kiosks between now and 31 July 2024 can earn a bonus of 2,000 extra Skywards miles. A curated selection of official Emirates merchandise and travel accessories are also available for purchase.

“We are delighted to inaugurate the first Emirates travel store in the Far East region, in Hong Kong, to deliver an enhanced and exceptional service to our valued customers. The city has always been strategically important for us and by launching our first travel store in Central Hong Kong, we aim to offer our valued customers an elevated travel retail experience, and better deliver Emirates’ hospitality at every step of the customer journey. In line with our ‘Fly Better’ promise, Emirates travel store combines advanced technology with personalised service provided by our well-versed travel consultants to ensure a seamless and enriching experience for our customers,” said Abbas.

Emirates currently operates 21 flights per week between Hong Kong and Dubai. Underscoring its commitment to the market, the airline recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hong Kong Tourism Board, aimed at boosting inbound tourism to the city from various key areas across Europe and the Middle East. In addition, the revamped Emirates Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport has recently been re-opened to passengers, while coverage of its complimentary chauffeur-drive service has been extended to include business class passengers in Hong Kong.
