SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 202 new COVID-19 cases on Monday (Jun 29), including six cases in the community, said the Ministry of Health (MOH).
The community cases involve four Singaporeans and two work permit holders.
Among the Singaporeans, one had already been quarantined as he had been in contact with a previous case linked to the Leo dormitory cluster. Another two cases were detected as part of MOH’s screening of people working at dormitories or frontline COVID-19 operations.
“Epidemiological investigations are ongoing for the remaining (Singaporean) case,” said MOH.
The tally of COVID-19 cases in Singapore stands at 43,661.
Most of the new cases daily are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories, with 196 infections reported on Monday.
Three new dormitory clusters were also announced. They are located at 38 Woodlands Industrial Park E1, 210 Woodlands Industrial Park E5 and 170 Woodlands Industrial Park E7.
In addition, several places were added to MOH’s list of locations visited by COVID-19 community cases during their infectious period. These include Causeway Point, Mustafa Centre, New World Centre Sheng Siong, Durian 36 in Geylang, Siam Square Mookata in Bukit Batok and Everyday Spa in Toa Payoh.

MOH said 477 more COVID-19 cases were discharged from hospitals or released from community isolation facilities, bring the total number of fully recovered to 37,985.
There were 197 confirmed cases treated in hospital, who were mostly stable or improving. One patient is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
A total of 5,453 were isolated and cared for at community facilities.
On Sunday, MOH reported a Secondary 3 student at East Spring Secondary School as a COVID-19 case.
All 39 classmates and 11 staff members in close contact with the student, have tested negative for the coronavirus, said Education Minister Ong Ye Kung on Monday.
“As a precaution, 39 students and 11 staff who had been in close contact with the student have been put on Leave of Absence by the Ministry of Education or Home Quarantine Order by MOH,” said the Health Ministry.
Singapore on Jun 19 entered Phase 2 of its reopening after a “circuit breaker” period of almost two months to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Singapore and Malaysia have agreed to allow cross-border travel for certain groups of people, including residents who hold long-term immigration passes for business and work purposes.
On Sunday, the global COVID-19 death toll reached half a million people, according to a Reuters tally.
